UA Little Rock’s University Program Council [UPC] held their annual UPC week last week from Oct. 22 thru Oct. 26.
Every day featured a different event, and all of the events were centered around the theme “Fall Festival”. UPC planned a great week of activities for all students on campus to enjoy all week long.
Monday Oct. 22 started the week of with a bang for the “Haunted Escape rooms” which took place in the Donaghey Student Center 201. Kennedy Quarders, UPC Vice President, said that the turn out was around 20 people and each room had a “haunted feature”. The room names were “Asylum”, “Play Room” and “Haunted Study”. She especially liked the Play Room one which centered around a variety of different board games.
Tuesday Oct. 23 introduced the Hypnotist show in Donaghey Student Center’s Ledbetter Hall at 6 p.m. There were about 50 people in attendance and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
“A lot of student participated in the show, we had two very funny students that became spies, wookiees and break dancers all in one night.” Quarders said.
From 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24, UPC week continued with the Obstacle Courses, Laser Tag and Wax Hands. There were about 90 students in attendance.
“People had a lot of energy and really participated in all of the actives,” Quarders said. “I think they especially enjoyed taking home their beautiful wax creations.”
Thursday was Glow Yoga in the Donaghey Student Center 205 D from 7-9 p.m. This event was maxed out, and students were able to decorate themselves in glow paint and join yoga instructor Naomi Fletcher for one of two yoga sessions.
“It was a relaxing and fun event,” freshman Hannah Krehbiel said. “We got to use glow paint and glow sticks then do yoga in black light.”
The week ended with the usual UPC Carnival which featured fun games and activities for all the students to enjoy, but just because UPC week is over, doesn’t mean UPC doesn’t have a bunch of fun activities for students coming up.
“Coming up for UPC this semester is our stress relieving event,” Quarders said. “We have not chosen what all we are doing. However, soap-making is on the list. We are also thinking of adding other things that will allow student to get creative and relax before finals. We are also mapping out some of our events for next semester; Valentine’s Day Match-maker will be the soonest and students really enjoyed that one very much last year.”
UPC always has events coming your way so check the events calendar on the UA Little Rock website to find out when that will be.
