The Sequoyah National Research Center is hosting “Patriot Nations: Native Americans in Our Nation’s Armed Forces,” an exhibit created by the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian.
The exhibit, which opens Sep. 5 and ends Nov. 30, details the history of American Indians and Alaskan Natives who have served in the military from the Revolutionary War to the present day. It will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
To help kick off the exhibit, the Center is also hosting an opening reception Sep. 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. in Suite 500 of the University Plaza. Previous events organized by the Center include lectures, film screenings, and other exhibits on the history of native peoples in North America.
