Several members of the student government have either resigned or shifted positions, leaving two senate vacancies from the College of Business and a possible third from the College of Education and Health Professions.
Former Secretary Chris Foy and Chief of Staff Mike Vick are no longer with the SGA; President Brian Gregory would not say why, calling it a “private personnel matter.” The senate approved Mariam Bouzihay, former Public Relations Liaison, for the Chief of Staff position, and former senator Claire Herman for the Secretary position.
Herman’s new position created one of the College of Business vacancies, and the recent resignation of Sen. Kiauna Rome created the other.
In addition, Sen. Deangela Horton has accrued excessive absences this semester, so the senate will vote next week on whether or not to remove her.
Advisors Jenny Dodson and Karen Willson hosted a post-meeting workshop following up on the conversation that Sen. Prince Beasley initiated at the previous meeting. The workshop, which lasted until 4:30, was mandatory for all members who did not have prior engagements.
“Today we’re taking care of some project-building, team-building, working on making sure that they the motivation that they need to finish out remainder of the semester,” Vice President Faith Thomas said.
