Women’s basketball earn Foley’s 300th win, while men fall short

Little Rock (LR) women’s basketball defeated Appalachian State 52-40 on Thursday evening at the Holmes Convocation Center. The win earned Head Coach Joe Foley his 300th victory for LR.

Undefeated in Sun Belt Conference play, the first-place Trojans tallied their 13th consecutive conference win dating back to last season.

The (11-8, 8-0 Sun Belt)  Lady Trojans were led by Ronjanae DeGray’s 18 points and five rebounds, while Tori Lasker added 14 points of her own. Monique Townson tallied seven assists.

Following the women’s game, LR men’s basketball suffered a 72-67 overtime loss versus Appalachian State.

The loss dropped the Trojans to 2-6 in Sun Belt Conference play and 5-16 overall, with the Trojans still seeking their first road win of the season. Appalachian State snapped a four-game losing skid, improving to 9-13 overall.

The Trojans raced out to a 13-point lead early, going into the half up 38-32. Both teams traded blows in the second half before an extended rally by the Mountaineers brought the score to 59-59 at the end of regulation.

Appalachian State scored the first four in the overtime period and never looked back, finishing the Trojans 72-67.

Camron Reedus led LR with 11 points, while Jaizec Lottie added eight points and four rebounds.

Little Rock basketball returns to action Saturday afternoon with a pair of away games at Coastal Carolina.
