The Little Rock (LR) men’s and women’s basketball teams both lost games in the last 24 hours. The men lost at the FedEx Forum in Memphis to the University of Memphis Tigers, while the women lost at home at the Jack Stephens Center to the Tulsa Hurricanes.
In Memphis, the men lost 70-62 versus an electric Tigers offense. LR’s top scorer was freshman Jaizec Lottie with 12 points, while Memphis’ top scorer was Jeremiah Martin with 26 points. Lottie also led the Trojans with four assists, while senior Wadley Mompremier tallied four blocks. Junior Oliver Black and Mompremier led the team with seven rebounds each.
At the Jack Stephens Center, the women played host to the Tulsa Hurricanes in the university’s first “School Day” game, an event where area primary school children attend the game. Almost 1,000 Little Rock youth were present at the Jack.
Despite the fan support, LR couldn’t get a firm grip on the game, only outscoring the Hurricanes in one quarter. LR lost 74-61.
Sophomore Kyra Collier led the Trojans with 14 points and two steals, while graduate student Keanna Keys controlled the glass with 13 rebounds. Keys and junior Ronjanae DeGray both scored blocks.
Next up, the LR women go on a Texas road-trip, taking on Texas A&M and Rice on Nov. 22, and Nov. 24. For the men, they’re off west for games against Grand Canyon University and San Diego on Nov. 18, and Nov. 22.
