Little Rock (LR) women’s soccer fell to No. 1 seed South Alabama (SA) 4-0 in the Sun Belt Conference semifinals in Foley, Ala., on Friday evening.
The Trojans, seeded fifth in the field, ended their season with a record of 4-4-2 in league play, and 9-9-3 overall. LR was 7-1-2 at home this season.
SA (13-5-1, 9-1-0 SBC) will face No. 7 seed Coastal Carolina for the conference title on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Jaguars outshot the Trojans 12-3, including a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Rio Hardy struck first for SA, scoring in the 15th minute of play. The Jaguars also got a pair of goals from Kory Dixon, on one of which Hardy assisted, along with a late score by Ana Helmert.
Three of the Jaguars’ goals were relinquished by LR freshman goalkeeper Megan Swanson. Only in two other games this season did Swanson give up three or more goals, the last being in September against Austin Peay.
Both squads garnered double-digit fouls, with the Trojans having 12 to SA’s 10.
A total of three players received yellow cards, including Anita Agustsdottir and Danielle Henley of SA and LR’s Doro Greulich.
