Trojans fall to Louisiana in five sets

Little Rock (LR) volleyball fell to Louisiana (UL) in five sets Friday evening at the Jack Stephens Center.

The Ragin’ Cajuns (14-7, 7-0 Sun Belt) claimed the first two sets in close fashion, 27-25 and 25-23. LR (6-14, 2-6) stormed back to edge UL in the next two sets, both by a margin of 25-23.

UL took the decisive fifth set, 15-12.

Veronica Marin led the Trojans with 26 kills and six blocks, while Avram Marina had 19 kills and a pair of aces.

Nedima Kamberovic, a freshman from Bosnia-Herzegovina had three aces for LR, while Taylor Lindberg had 61 assists, her largest tally this season. Sydnee Martin had 29 digs for the Trojans.

UL got 20 kills and two aces from Stacey Reilly, while Hali Wisnoskie added 17 kills. Jessica Bartczyszyn had 56 assists.

The Trojans will host ULM tomorrow, with a 6:30 p.m. start at the Jack Stephens Center.
