A pair of goals from Morgan Smocovich led the Little Rock (LR) women’s soccer team to a 3-1 win over Appalachian State (APP) on Friday evening at the Coleman Athletic and Recreation Complex.
Smocovich’s two second-half goals, both unassisted, were the first of her career.
The Trojans (7-6-2, 2-2-2 Sun Belt) fell behind in the first half, as Lindsey Tully of the Mountaineers (2-10-3, 1-5-1) scored from 10 yards out in the 24th minute of play.
LR got on the board in the 44th minute, when senior Fali Garuba scored on a header assisted by Claire Palmer. The goal was Garuba’s second of the season, her first since Senior Night against Sam Houston State on Sept. 2.
APP held the advantage in shots (12) and shots on goal (5), compared to the Trojans’ marks of 11 and four, respectively.
Goalkeeper Kate Hamilton, making her fourth start for LR, recorded four saves.
The Trojans will host Texas State at the Coleman Athletic and Recreation Complex this Sunday at 1 p.m.
