Little Rock (LR) volleyball won 3-2 against Arlington (UTA) this Saturday. Taking the first and third sets (25-19 and 25-16), the Trojans were forced into a fifth, ending the game 15-10.
Players Marina Avram and Daisha Gillard were the highest scoring Trojans in nearly every set. Avram took 25 kills, performed 3 solo blocks and assisted 8, while Gillard tallied 23, 6, and 11, respectively. Avram totaled 51 points, while Gillard tallied 44.5.
A close fourth set forced the game into a tie-breaker. The Trojans reached 22 points, fighting hard as Arlington sat at 24 points for several plays.
“One point can change everything,” Avram said, describing the momentum of the fourth set “chase,” and how it drove the team’s efforts.
Monday, the women’s volleyball team travels to Jonesboro to face off against Arkansas State University, and will return to the Jack Stephens Center to play Lousiana-Lafayette on Oct. 13.
