The Little Rock (LR) women’s swimming and diving team finished fifth overall at the North Texas Relays in Lewisville, Texas, on Friday evening to open the 2017-18 season.
The Trojans earned 208 team points, and competed in 12 events. Other teams in the field included Houston, North Texas and SMU.
Divers Sierra Thain and Samantha Gray had solid performances for LR, earning second in the 3-meter diving competition (387.98 points) and third in 1-meter diving (285.15). Thain, a freshman from Plano, Texas, was making her collegiate debut.
Trojan swimmers Tori Fryar, Claire Bristow and Charis Won placed fourth in the 3×500-yard freestyle relay event, the highest finish for LR in any of the relays.
Laura Ruiz Astorga, Emma Doll, Bristow and Fryar also finished fifth in the 800-yard freestyle relay. Isabelle Finzen, Ginger Bryant and Bristow were sixth in the 3×100-yard butterfly relay.
LR will host North Texas on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. in the Donaghey Student Aquatic Center.
