In a very competitive match last night, Little Rock (LR) women’s volleyball fell to Coastal Carolina in four sets (3-1).

Carolina took the first set 25-20.

The Trojans battled back in the second set and won 27-25, with key kills by senior outside hitter Marina Avram. Carolina controlled the final two sets to take the victory.

Junior setter Taylor Lindberg tallied 40 assists and nine digs. Avram led LR with 21 kills on 51 attempts. The defensive game of junior middle blocker Veronica Marin was significant.

Head Coach Van Compton spoke very positive about the defeat to the team picked to finish first in the
conference.

“It was a slow start and the team seemed to be in awe of Carolina, but settled in after the first set. They (LR) played well in the second …., they played well against a great team.”

Compton added the team showed its youth in the third and fourth sets, featuring seven new players. One of which, freshman North Little Rock native Mya Robinson, made key contributions.
