Trojans concede close match

On Saturday evening in St. Louis, the Little Rock (LR) women’s volleyball team dropped a hotly-contested match to DePaul in five sets.

Both squads alternated winning the first four sets, then the Blue Demons (6-6) sealed the win with a 15-12 score in the fifth set. DePaul outscored the Trojans (4-8) by a total margin of 85-69.

Claire Anderson had 24 kills and Myah Reed had 18 for the Blue Devils. Kelsey Horvath logged 50 assists.

LR also had a pair of players with double-digit kills, as senior Marina Avram had 14 and freshman Mya Robinson had 12. Junior Taylor Lindberg had 37 assists.

The Trojans finished the Billiken Invitational 1-2, which included a 3-0 win over Louisiana Tech on Friday evening and a 3-1 loss to host Saint Louis earlier today.

LR will open Sun Belt Conference play against Appalachian State on Friday, Sept. 22 at the Jack Stephens Center. Start time for the match is 6:30 p.m.
