Trojans fall to SFA, complete Texas trip

On Saturday evening, the Little Rock (LR) women’s volleyball team fell to host Stephen F. Austin (SFA) as part of the 2017 Holiday Inn Express SFA Invitational in Nacogdoches, Texas.

The Trojans (3-6) were dropped in three sets, by tallies of 25-17, 25-14 and 25-21.

SFA (11-1) had two players with 14 kills, Haley Coleman and Danae Daron, while Corin Evans logged ten. Coleman also had 16 digs and a pair of aces on the night, as did teammate Ann Hollas.

LR’s Taylor Lindberg, a junior, had 23 assists, and Sydnee Martin (13) and Maritza Mesa (10) both had a double-digit dig total.

The loss completes a 1-2 trip to Nacogdoches, which also included a win over Texas Southern and a loss at the hands of Colgate.

The Trojans will be back in action in St. Louis Sept. 15 and 16 as they take part in the Billiken Invitational, and will play Louisiana Tech, St. Louis and DePaul.

LR opens Sun Belt play at the Jack Stephens Center on Friday, Sept. 22 against Appalachian State.
